Overview
The classifications of DivX Updater vary from a
browser hijacker to spam relay with backdoor capabilities. The trojan adds a 'DivX
Updater' value in the registry under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \
Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run' pointing to DivX.Exe located in %WinDir% or %SystemDir%,
which allows it to start when a user logs on the system.
Note: %WinDir% is a variable (?).
By default, this is C:\Windows (Windows 95/98/Me/XP) or C:\WINNT (Windows
NT/2000).
